  • Arunachal round 1 allotment: 111 medical seats, and missing 2 September costs you round 2

    The Directorate of Higher and Technical Education published Arunachal Pradesh’s first round PCB allotment on 27 August. 291 candidates were allotted a seat, 111 of them in MBBS or BDS. The date that matters more than the allotment itself is 2 September.

    Miss 2 September and you lose round 2 as well

    The circular is blunt about this. A candidate allotted a seat in round 1 who fails to submit a Freeze or Float willingness, and a candidate who chooses Freeze but does not report by 4 pm on 2 September 2026, is treated as not interested. The allotment is cancelled automatically, and the candidate is not eligible for round 2.

    Freeze candidates in MBBS, BDS and the other health-science courses report to the Directorate of Medical Education, A Sector, behind Lenskart, Naharlagun. Candidates who choose Float wait for the round 2 allotment and do nothing else.

    111 medical seats, and most colleges are outside the state

    Arunachal has one medical college, so the state holds nomination seats elsewhere. The allotment reflects that.

    These are NEET All India Ranks, printed in the allotment list itself, so they compare directly against your own rank.

    APST and non-APST are two different competitions

    Of the 814 candidates on the list, 794 are APST and 20 are non-APST. Of the 291 allotments, 286 went to APST candidates and 5 to non-APST candidates. Among those five: one MBBS seat at Raipur, one BDS seat at Kolkata, and three B.Sc Nursing seats.

    The gap this produces is the most useful thing in the document. A non-APST candidate at AIR 29,391 was recorded as having no option available. An APST candidate at AIR 952,156 holds an MBBS seat at TRIHMS. If you are not APST, Arunachal is close to a closed state for medical seats, and you should plan on that basis rather than on the headline closing rank.

    523 candidates got nothing this round

    The list records “No Option available” against 523 of the 814 names, 508 of them APST. The phrase is the state’s own, and it sits where a college name would go. Those candidates stay in the process for the 4 September round.

    Among the 111 MBBS and BDS allotments, 72 were the candidate’s first choice and 20 the second, so this round has been kinder on choice order than most state rounds.

    What to carry to reporting

    Two self-attested photocopy sets with the originals, and three passport photographs. The circular lists the filled scrutiny form from apdhte.nic.in, the downloaded provisional allotment letter, the Class X pass certificate for age, the Class XII marksheet, the NEET 2026 score card, a PWD certificate where it applies, the security deposit or seat acceptance fee receipt, the school leaving or transfer certificate, the migration certificate and a medical fitness certificate.

    On category proof: APST candidates bring an APST certificate. Non-APST candidates bring either an employment certificate from a government employer, or a domicile certificate covering at least three years issued by a First Class Magistrate during 2026, and in that case must also have passed Class XII from an institution inside Arunachal Pradesh.

  • Himachal round 1 allocation is out: 948 seats, and government MBBS closes at merit number 426

    Atal Medical and Research University published the round 1 provisional seat allocation for MBBS and BDS on 27 August. It runs to 948 candidates. If anything in your entry is wrong, you have until 5 pm today to say so.

    The correction window shuts at 5 pm on 28 August

    Write to counselling.amruhp@gmail.com. AMRU’s notice, number AMRU/(COE)-Admission-120/2026-27(MBBS/BDS)-4856 dated 27 August 2026, asks for any discrepancy in the merit to be reported by 5 pm on 28 August 2026. Send it now if you need to; the list moves on after that.

    These are Himachal merit numbers, not NEET ranks

    The allocation list carries a Merit No column and no All India Rank anywhere. Every figure in this article is an AMRU merit number from the Himachal MBBS/BDS list, running from 1 to 2,736. Compare one of these against a NEET All India Rank and you will draw the wrong conclusion. Find your Himachal merit number first, then read the tables.

    The whole government MBBS general band closes inside the first 426 merit numbers. Shimla, Tanda and Ner Chowk fill in the first 178. That is a tight ladder, and small merit differences decide which district you spend five years in.

    89 candidates who applied under HP Quota were allotted management seats

    827 candidates applied under HP Quota. 738 were admitted under it. The gap is not people losing seats: management admissions rose from 97 applications to 188 allotments, and 89 of those 188 came from candidates whose applied quota was HP Quota.

    All 89 sit in the four private colleges: 39 at Maharishi Markandeshwar, 22 at Himachal Dental Sundernagar, 17 at Himachal Institute of Dental Sciences, 11 at Bhojia Dental. If you applied under HP Quota, a management seat at a private college is a live outcome for you, at management fees. Check the allotted quota column on your own row before you assume otherwise.

    A Supreme Court order added one seat at Chamba

    The notice records, separately from the allocation table, that the National Medical Commission created a supernumerary MBBS seat at Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba, and that the seat was allotted to the petitioner. AMRU cites the Supreme Court order in Civil Appeal 2026 arising out of SLP (C) No. 18686 of 2023.

    Nothing on this list is settled

    AMRU’s own wording: the provisional allocation is “only indicative in nature and subject to change”, candidates “cannot claim any right over the allotted seat on the basis of provisional merit”, and it “cannot be challenged before the court of law”.

    The notice also warns that a reserved category or quota claim survives only if the certificate is valid, current and in the format the prospectus specifies. An outdated or wrongly formatted certificate loses you the category benefit at verification, not at allotment. Get the paperwork corrected before you report.

  • Jharkhand NEET UG 2026 round 1 allotment out: 912 seats, government MBBS closes at state rank 394

    The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) published the provisional first-round seat allotment for NEET UG 2026 state quota seats on 27 August 2026. The list covers 912 seats: 785 in MBBS and 127 in BDS, across 15 colleges. It follows the round 1 state merit list published on 14 August.

    That is the largest first round Jharkhand has run in four years. The state allotted 674 seats in round 1 of 2023, 694 in 2024 and 762 in 2025. MBBS alone rose from 613 seats last year to 785 this year, an increase of 172.

    Most of that came from two existing government colleges filling more seats in the first round than they did last year. RIMS Ranchi allotted 208 MBBS seats against 148 in round 1 of 2025, and MGM Jamshedpur allotted 125 against 83. Three colleges that did not feature in last year’s first round added another 60 between them.

    What the round 1 cutoffs look like

    Jharkhand ranks candidates on its own Combined Merit List (CML), so an allotment letter shows a state rank, not a NEET All India Rank. Both are given below, because the two answer different questions: the state rank tells you where you stand in the Jharkhand queue, and the All India Rank tells you what score that queue position corresponds to nationally.

    Across all government MBBS colleges, the general (UR) category closed at state rank 394, which works out to a NEET All India Rank of about 32,300. Private MBBS colleges went much deeper, closing at state rank 2,926 (All India Rank about 8.73 lakh). In BDS, the general category closed at state rank 3,078.

    These are round 1 closing ranks for the general category under the state quota. Reserved-category ranks close later, and every one of these numbers will move in rounds 2 and 3 as candidates upgrade or drop out.     Two colleges join state counselling

    Sido Kanhu Medical College & Hospital, Dumka took 15 MBBS seats in this round, and Birsa Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Khunti took 18. Both are private colleges and neither appeared in a Jharkhand allotment list before this year. The National Medical Commission’s seat matrix for 2026-27 lists Sido Kanhu as a new establishment with 100 MBBS seats. Netaji Subhas Medical College, which took 27 seats, is also appearing in a first round for the first time, having entered counselling only in later rounds last year.

    Because these colleges are filling early for the first time, their round 1 closing ranks are unusually deep, and candidates should expect them to move a lot across later rounds.

    Awadh Dental College is back in the list

    Awadh Dental College & Hospital, Jamshedpur received 10 BDS allotments in this round. Its seats returned to counselling after a Jharkhand High Court judgment of 13 August 2026 set aside the earlier decision that had stopped admissions there. We covered the board’s advisory on this college separately.

    JCECEB’s own advisory of 24 August 2026 asks candidates to weigh that position carefully before locking a choice. The court left the legality of an earlier batch of 68 BDS admissions open for the National Dental Commission to determine through an independent inquiry. The board also warned that once a candidate locks a choice and is allotted a seat, the usual counselling consequences follow. If you are considering this college, read the board’s advisory in full and verify its recognition for your academic session yourself.

    What allotted candidates do next

    JCECEB has revised the round 1 schedule twice, most recently through Advertisement No. 66 dated 21 August 2026, issued after the Medical Counselling Committee directed states to extend round 1. The dates that now apply:

    • Download the provisional allotment letter: 27 August to 5 September 2026.
    • Document verification and admission at the allotted institute: 28 August to 5 September 2026.

    The allotment is provisional. A seat is only confirmed once the college verifies your documents and admits you. Given how often this schedule has changed, check the JCECEB portal before you travel.

    One number worth reading carefully

    The gap between the last government seat and the first private one is wide this year. A Jharkhand candidate at state rank 394 got a government seat in round 1. A candidate at state rank 552 got Manipal TATA, and after that the list runs into the thousands. If you are between those numbers, rounds 2 and 3 are where your decision actually gets made, not this one.

  • Punjab NEET UG 2026 Round 1 allotment out: 2,410 seats, reporting 30 August to 5 September

    Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, published the provisional first-round seat allotment for Punjab MBBS and BDS admissions on 27 August. The list runs to 142 pages and allots 2,410 seats: 1,386 in MBBS and 1,024 in BDS, across 12 medical and 17 dental colleges.

    Objections close on 28 August. The revised allotment follows on 29 August, and physical reporting at the allotted college runs from 30 August to 5 September.

    BFUHS accepts objections only in person, at the Admission Branch in Faridkot, with supporting documents. The revised schedule states plainly that objections sent by email or any other electronic mode will not be entertained. If you have a discrepancy to raise, someone has to travel.

    Reporting is not a formality either. Candidates have to appear at the college with original documents, complete the medical examination where it applies, finish the admission formalities, and pay six months’ tuition fee through the university online payment gateway inside their own login.

    These are Punjab merit numbers, not your NEET rank

    The BFUHS allotment list carries a combined merit number covering MBBS and BDS candidates together. It is not the NEET All India Rank, and the two numbers are far apart. Reading a Punjab closing figure as an AIR is the most common mistake made with this document.

    The numbers below are the closing BFUHS merit numbers in the government quota, Open category, for MBBS. They are provisional and can move when the revised list appears on 29 August.

    Private colleges hold government-quota seats in Punjab

    Five of the ten colleges in that table are private: Dayanand Medical College, Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences, Gian Sagar, RIMT and Adesh. Their seats in the list above are government-quota seats, allotted on state merit at the government-quota fee, not management seats.

    The same colleges also appear in the list under the management quota, where the allotment reaches much deeper. Dayanand Medical College closed its management-quota MBBS allotment at merit number 4,502, and Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences at 5,445. The college name is the same in both cases. The seat, the merit needed and the fee are not.

    On the dental side, the two government dental colleges closed their Open government-quota allotment at merit 1,073 (Patiala) and 1,115 (Amritsar). Private dental colleges ran from 1,816 at SGRD Amritsar down to 4,100 at RIMT Mandi Gobindgarh.

    Reporting collides with All India Quota Round 2

    Punjab’s reporting window ends on 5 September. MCC opens All India Quota Round 2 registration on 3 September, with registration closing at 3:00 PM on 8 September and the result due on 11 September. State counselling Round 2 runs 7 to 11 September.

    A candidate holding a Punjab Round 1 seat and also intending to try All India Quota Round 2 has both processes running in the same week. Read your seat-holding rules before you decide, because what you do in Punjab affects what you can do at MCC.

  • MCC NEET UG 2026 Round 2 schedule: registration 3 to 8 September, result 11 September

    The Medical Counselling Committee published the Round 2 schedule for NEET UG 2026 on 27 August. Registration and payment open on 3 September and close at 3:00 PM on 8 September. The Round 2 result is due on 11 September.

    Round 2 covers the 15% All India Quota, all deemed and central universities, AFMC, the AIIMS institutions and JIPMER (Puducherry and Karaikal), for MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing.

    All times in the schedule are server time, not the clock on your phone.

    Two deadlines on 8 September that are not the same deadline

    Registration shuts at 3:00 PM on 8 September. The payment window stays open until 6:00 PM the same day. Those three hours are for candidates who have already registered and still have to pay, not a grace period for starting the process. If you have not registered by 3:00 PM, the open payment gateway is of no use to you.

    Choice locking has its own window. It opens at 4:00 PM on 8 September and closes at 10:00 AM on 9 September, which is also when choice filling ends. MCC’s information bulletin states that choices left unlocked are locked automatically as per the schedule, so an unlocked list is not a blank list. It is your list, frozen where you left it.

    State counselling gets five days, not fifteen

    The companion schedule sets the state quota Round 2 window at 7 September to 11 September. In Round 1, state counselling ran from 13 August to 27 August, a fifteen-day window. Round 2 gives states five days.

    The sequencing matters more than the length. AIQ registration opens on 3 September and state Round 2 opens on 7 September, so candidates who are in both tracks will be committing to All India Quota choices before most state portals open. The last date of joining is 18 September for both tracks, and both MCC and the state authorities verify joined candidate data on 19 September.

    MCC has repeated its standing instruction that all Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted holidays are to be treated as working days by participating institutes.

    What Round 2 changes

    The revised information bulletin dated 20 August confirms four online AIQ rounds this year: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and the stray vacancy round. It also states that no seats will be reverted to the participating states after Round 2 is completed. Upgradation stays available up to Round 3, and candidates cannot resign from a Round 3 allotted seat.

    That makes Round 2 the last round in which an AIQ seat you decline can still go back to a state pool, and the last comfortable point to change your mind.

  • Tamil Nadu round 1 allotment is out: 10,048 seats, BC closes at state rank 3,392

    The Selection Committee published Tamil Nadu’s first-round MBBS and BDS allotment on 27 August 2026, in two separate lists: government quota and management quota. Both are provisional.

    We parsed both files, all 9,437 rows, and read them alongside the 7.5% government-school list allotted on 13 August. Together the three account for 10,048 allotments, 8,132 in MBBS and 1,916 in BDS.

    The government-college figures include the 7.5% government-school quota allotted on 13 August: 510 MBBS seats and 104 BDS seats.

    Every rank below is a Tamil Nadu rank, not an All India Rank

    This is the single thing most often misread about Tamil Nadu counselling. The state runs its own merit list and the allotment order prints that rank, called GRANK on the list. Tamil Nadu does not publish an All India Rank anywhere in the process.

    So a closing rank of 3,392 in the table below means the 3,392nd candidate on the Tamil Nadu list, not AIR 3,392. The two scales are far apart, and the marks show by how much. Tamil Nadu rank 3,392, where BC closed in government colleges, scored 536. NTA’s own 2026 marks-versus-rank table puts 551 marks at All India Rank 36,870 and 501 marks at 89,341, so a Tamil Nadu rank in the low thousands is an All India Rank in the tens of thousands. Hold a Tamil Nadu cutoff next to an all-India quota cutoff and you are comparing two different things.

    One more separation to keep in mind: the 7.5% government-school pool is ranked on its own list, so its ranks are not comparable with the general list either.

    The OC line is small for a reason worth understanding. Tamil Nadu fills its open-competition seats by merit across every community, so the top-ranked BC, MBC and SC candidates take open seats before their own quota opens. What the allotment records is each candidate’s community, so these 94 rows are the candidates who carry no community reservation at all. The open-competition boundary itself sits deeper than 1,369.

    Among individual colleges, Madras Medical College took 184 seats and did not go past rank 1,880. Stanley Medical College closed at 4,009 over 185 seats, Coimbatore at 4,549 over 147, and Madurai at 5,645 over 184. K.A.P. Viswanatham in Trichy closed at 6,673, and Govt. Mohan Kumaramangalam in Salem at 6,925.

    Self-financing colleges, government quota

    The self-financing seats surrendered to the state run on the same merit list, and they run considerably deeper.

    The 7.5% government-school quota

    510 MBBS seats and 104 BDS seats went to candidates who studied in Tamil Nadu government schools, allotted on 13 August ahead of the general round. That pool is ranked separately, so its numbers look dramatically better and cannot be read against the tables above: MBC and DNC closed at 380 within the pool, BC at 580, SC at 720. The marks tell the plainer story, running from 599 down to 446.

    Management quota

    1,414 MBBS seats and 536 BDS seats were allotted from the management list. The management pool proper took 607 MBBS seats, opening at rank 782 and closing at 6,587 on 552 to 434 marks. NRI took 260 seats, Telugu linguistic minority 385, Christian minority 60, Malayalam linguistic minority 52, and the minority network 38.

    What is left after round 1

    Against the vacancy the Committee published on 24 August, roughly 342 MBBS seats and 44 BDS seats went unfilled in this round: 91 in government medical colleges, 251 in self-financing colleges, and none in the private ones, which filled completely. Government BDS also filled completely, so all 44 unfilled dental seats sit in self-financing colleges.

    A new college in the matrix

    Rajalakshmi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute in Kanchipuram took part in Tamil Nadu counselling for the first time this year and picked up 171 MBBS allotments in round 1. The National Medical Commission has sanctioned it 250 MBBS seats for 2026-27.

    Dates that matter

    Allotment orders can be downloaded from 27 August until 12 noon on 5 September. The last date to report at the allotted college is 5 pm on 5 September. The list is provisional, so a rank here can still move before the Committee settles it.

  • Uttarakhand NEET UG 2026 Round 1 provisional result out, objections close 28 August

    Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University published the provisional Round 1 allotment for NEET UG 2026 on 27 August 2026. The broadsheet allots 1,245 seats across ten colleges: 1,057 in MBBS and 188 in BDS.

    The result is provisional, not final. The university has asked candidates to check their entry and report any discrepancy to ukneetcounselling@gmail.com by 4 PM on 28 August 2026. After that deadline the result is finalised and allotment letters are uploaded to the counselling portal. The notice states plainly that the provisional result confers no right or claim over the allotted seat.

    Where the seats went

    Five government medical colleges, three private medical colleges and two private dental colleges took part. Uttarakhand fills two pools in the same round: State Quota seats, and All India Open Quota seats, which in this round exist only at the private colleges. Every government college filled from the State Quota alone.

    Closing ranks for unreserved State Quota seats at the five government medical colleges, as they stand in the provisional list:

    The private colleges close far later, and the two pools close at different points. At Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences the unreserved State Quota seat closed at All India Rank 4,25,036 and the All India Open Quota seat at 4,47,050. At Gautam Buddha Chikitsa Mahavidyalaya the two closed at 5,49,276 and 5,77,052. At Himalayan Institute of Medical Science the State Quota closed at 2,46,466 and the open pool at 2,33,456.

    One point on Gautam Buddha Chikitsa Mahavidyalaya, because the name misleads: it is a private college. The National Medical Commission lists it under a private college code, and its own 2026-27 fee structure sets tuition at ₹21,00,000 a year on the 75% open seats and ₹15,75,000 a year on the 25% Uttarakhand quota. A State Quota seat there is a subsidised private seat, not a government one.

    What to do now

    Check your row in the broadsheet against your own application: name, roll number, category, sub-category and domicile claim. Errors in reservation or domicile are what the objection window exists for, and it closes at 4 PM on 28 August.

    If your allotment stands, download the allotment letter after 4 PM on 28 August and report to the allotted college. The last date of joining for Round 1 is 5 September 2026. Under the university’s counselling rules a Round 1 candidate may exit without penalty, and that freedom narrows from Round 2 onward.

    Candidates who were not allotted stay in the running for Round 2. The broadsheet gives two reasons for a blank allotment: no choices filled, and no seat available at the choices that were filled. The second is a choice-filling problem, and it is worth fixing before the next round rather than repeating it.

    One thing to watch

    Every rank above comes from the provisional list. Corrections filed before 28 August can move individual rows, and a category’s closing rank moves with them. Treat these as a firm indication of where the round landed, not as the final record.

  • Maharashtra will revise its final merit list after two High Courts ordered withheld results released

    The State Common Entrance Test Cell has issued Notice No. 12, and it changes something most candidates would assume was settled: the final merit list for MBBS and BDS is going to be revised.

    Why the list is changing

    The NTA had withheld the results of some candidates. The Bombay High Court and the Delhi High Court, in recent orders, directed that the results of the petitioner candidates be declared and that they be allowed to take part in the ongoing CAP process. The courts directed that those results be shared by 27 August 2026.

    Once the results reach the CET Cell, those candidates enter the process. In the Cell’s own words, this “will alter the Final Merit list”, and a revised final merit list will be published on the website.

    If candidates are inserted above you, your position moves down. How much depends on how many there are and where they land, and neither is known yet.

    You can still change your choices, until 29 August

    This is the part to act on. The preference form can be edited any number of times until 29 August 2026 at 5.30 pm, by unlocking it with an OTP sent to your registered email and mobile.

    The Cell makes the point explicitly: candidates can edit their choices after the revised merit list is declared, if they wish. So if you have already locked your form, do not treat it as finished. Look at the revised list when it appears, then decide whether your order still makes sense.

    The choice-filling rules worth re-reading

    • You may fill a minimum of one and a maximum of all colleges.
    • Private colleges appear twice, under State Quota and Institute Quota, and the fees differ. Selecting the wrong one is selecting a different price for the same college, so check the quota on every private entry.
    • Some colleges run both MBBS and BDS. Verify the course on each choice before submitting.
    • Order the list by genuine preference, most wanted at the top. Allotment follows your order.
    • Lock the form when done. The last saved or locked set of preferences is what goes to allotment.
    • If you never lock it, the last filled preferences are auto-saved at the end of the schedule. Nothing changes after that.

    One more clause deserves attention. The Cell states that if choices are edited or filled wrongly through your login, it is treated as filled by you, and the office is not responsible for any loss. If someone else is filling the form on your behalf, that risk sits with you.

    234 candidates are on the not-qualified list

    Alongside the merit list, the Cell published a list of candidates not qualified for NEET UG 2026, running to 234 names. It is a separate document from the merit list, and being on it means you are outside this process rather than low in it.

    A note on what “final” means here

    The document published on 26 August is titled the Round 1 Final Merit List of registered candidates. Its own disclaimer, however, describes it as the provisional merit list, based on information given in the registration form and e-verification of uploaded documents, with admission taking place only after original certificates are verified at the admitting college.

    Read together with Notice 12, the position is straightforward: treat the list published on 26 August as a working position, not a settled one, and check the revised list when it is put up.

  • Odisha round 1 reporting starts 28 August, and freezing your seat means signing a ₹25 lakh bond

    OJEE has published the schedule and instructions for provisional admission after the first round. Reporting is in person at the OJEE office, Gandamunda, Bhubaneswar, on a fixed date for your allotted college, and it starts on 28 August.

    Do not go to your allotted college. The notice is explicit that candidates should not report there at this stage and must wait until the whole counselling process is complete.

    Miss your slot and the consequence is spelled out: you are treated as a non-reported candidate and the allotted seat is cancelled. You can still enter round 2 with fresh choices, but the current seat is gone.

    Freeze or Float, and what Freeze commits you to

    Before reporting you exercise Freeze or Float through your login. Freeze means you are keeping this seat. Float means you stay in the running for an upgrade.

    The instruction that deserves attention is this one: candidates who choose Freeze must come with the Bond, in the format on the OJEE website. If you are freezing, you are signing a service bond that day.

    What the bond actually says

    The governing rule is the Health and Family Welfare Department resolution ME-II-19053/H of 21 August 2020, circulated with this year’s admission pack. It is not a new announcement, but it binds anyone freezing a government seat now, and the numbers in it are large.

    • It applies to all candidates admitted to government medical and dental colleges, under either the state quota or the All India Quota. An AIQ seat at an Odisha government college does not escape it.
    • After finishing the course you must serve two years in any health institution of the state, after which you are released.
    • The penalty for not serving those two years is ₹25 lakh, and your pass certificate and college leaving certificate are held until you comply.
    • Leaving the course midway, so that a seat lapses, carries a ₹10 lakh penalty.
    • If you go straight into higher study, the bond pauses and resumes when you return. You declare this by affidavit before a JMFC, and your certificates are released.
    • If the state gives you no appointment within six months of completing the course, you are released and the bond lapses.

    The bond is executed on ₹21 non-judicial stamp paper and signed by you, two sureties (parents or guardian) and the Dean or Principal. It is collected centrally at provisional admission.

    What you pay at reporting

    Fees are paid online through your login, or by demand draft in favour of “OJEE” payable at Bhubaneswar, with your name, NEET application number and date of birth written on the back.

    NRI candidates pay four times these fees at private colleges. Government colleges may also collect additional institutional fees on top of the ₹37,950, and these vary by college. OJEE notes that any government revision to the fee structure applies automatically.

    Bring all certificates and mark sheets in original with a set of photocopies, plus the affidavit. Provisional admission is granted on payment and submission of the nativity certificate and college leaving certificate in original. Either you alone, or you with one guardian, should attend.

  • West Bengal publishes its revised round 1 seat matrix: 7,141 seats across 47 institutes

    The West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee has published its revised seat matrix for the first round of UG medical and dental counselling, printed on 25 August. We parsed the whole document, all 69 institute-and-quota columns, and every column’s category breakdown adds up exactly to its printed total.

    That is 6,479 MBBS seats and 662 BDS seats, across 47 distinct institutes. By institute type the matrix carries 27 state government columns, 41 private university or institute columns, and one central government entry.

    What the revision actually changed

    We compared this matrix against the version published on 19 August. Exactly one thing changed, and it is worth knowing if it was on your list.

    East West Institute of Medical Sciences and Research has been removed entirely, taking 100 MBBS seats out of the round: 33 from the state quota and 67 from the private management quota. No other institute was added, no seat count anywhere else moved, and the category splits are unchanged.

    That accounts for the whole difference between the two documents, 7,241 seats on 19 August and 7,141 now. If you filled choices against the earlier matrix, this is the only line that has moved under you.

    Read this as a counselling matrix, not a capacity list

    This is the part that trips people up, so it is worth being plain about.

    The matrix has columns for state quota, private management quota and NRI quota. It has no All India Quota column, because those seats are allotted by the MCC and not by the state. So the figure against a government college here is the number of seats West Bengal is filling, not the number of seats the college has.

    If you compare a number from this document against a sanctioned-intake figure you found elsewhere, they will not match, and the matrix is not wrong for being smaller. A government college showing 209 seats here will have a larger total intake once the All India Quota share is added back.

    Category breakdown

    Each column is split across UR, EWS, OBC, SC and ST, each with a separate PwD line. The reserved shares are applied within the state quota, so a private college’s management quota column shows its seats largely undivided while its state quota column carries the full category split.

    As always, compare a closing rank within your own category column. Ranks in a reserved column run deeper than the UR figure at the same college because the pool competing for those seats is smaller, which is how reservation is meant to work.
