The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board published the round 1 provisional seat allotment for UGMAC 2026 on 25 August. In all, 3,985 candidates were allotted a seat: 3,574 in MBBS, 221 in BDS, 144 in veterinary science, and 46 at the College of Fisheries, Kishanganj, which joins UGMAC counselling this year.

Dates you need this week

Allotment orders can be downloaded from 25 to 31 August. Document verification and admission at the allotted college run from 27 to 31 August. The board calls this list provisional, so a seat is confirmed only after the college verifies the documents and admits the candidate. BCECEB has said the round 2 programme will be announced separately and has not yet given its dates.

Every government MBBS seat went in round 1

Twelve government and ESIC medical colleges had 1,392 MBBS seats left for state counselling after the all-India quota and central nominee deductions. All 1,392 were allotted. Patna Medical College closed at NEET All India Rank 5,304 on general unreserved seats, which is Bihar merit rank 100, and at 5,819 on the female unreserved quota.

A dash means the board published no unreserved closing rank for that pool, because those seats were allotted to reserved category candidates. Two government colleges are missing from the table altogether for the same reason. At Magadh Medical College Gaya and Government Medical College Purnea, every unreserved seat went that way, so neither has an unreserved closing rank. The allotment list records those seats with the remark “Compensation Seat … Against UR”.

268 private MBBS seats are still open

The 14 private medical colleges had 2,450 MBBS seats and filled 2,182, so 268 go into round 2. Closing All India Ranks on the unreserved pool run from 1,45,895 at Mata Gujri Memorial, Kishanganj to 7,73,574 at Buddha Hospital and Research Institute, Gaya.

Two colleges join Bihar counselling

Buddha Hospital and Research Institute, Gaya and Shrinivas (G) Educational and Research Institute of Medical Sciences, Saran took part in UGMAC for the first time. Both appear as new establishments with 100 MBBS seats each in the National Medical Commission’s 2026-27 seat matrix. Buddha filled all 100. Shrinivas filled all 85 of its unreserved seats and one of the 15 it has set aside for the NRI quota.

Dental

221 of the 230 BDS seats were allotted. Patna Dental College filled all 30 government seats, Buddha Institute of Dental Sciences all 100, and Sarjug Dental College all 40. Mithila Minority Dental College filled 51 of 60.

What to do now

If you have an allotment, download the order and report to the college between 27 and 31 August with your original documents. If you are holding out for a better seat, wait for the round 2 notice before deciding anything, because the board has not yet published the terms on which a round 1 seat can be upgraded or given up this year. Read those terms against your own rank rather than last year’s pattern.

The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board has released the rank card for UGMAC 2026, covering MBBS, BDS and BVSc admissions.

How to download

The rank card is available on the BCECEB portal against your UGMAC ID and date of birth. There is no common merit list to browse; each candidate retrieves their own card.

What the rank card is for

Your state rank on this card is what Bihar counselling runs on. It is not the same number as your NEET All India Rank, and the two should not be used interchangeably when you are reading last year’s closing ranks. A Bihar state rank is derived from the NEET UG 2026 score among candidates eligible for Bihar counselling, so it is always a smaller number than the All India Rank.

Check the card carefully as soon as you download it. Category, domicile and reservation details printed on it drive which seats you are eligible for in the rounds that follow.

The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) has opened UGMAC 2026, the state-quota counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions, and released the Round 1 seat matrix. Candidates with a Bihar domicile who qualified NEET UG 2026 apply through UGMAC 2026 for these seats.

Registration and choice filling

• Online registration, application and choice filling open on 10 August 2026 and run to 14 August 2026, on bceceboard.bihar.gov.in.
• You register and fill choices once; the same locked list feeds Round 1 and Round 2. Fill your choices in order of preference and lock them.

Fees and security deposit

• Registration / counselling fee (non-refundable): ₹1,200; ₹600 for SC/ST and disabled-quota candidates at government colleges. For private colleges, all categories pay ₹1,200.
• Refundable security deposit at registration: government ₹10,000 (₹5,000 for SC/ST/BC/EBC); private medical ₹2,00,000; private dental ₹50,000. It is refunded after all rounds if you join your allotted seat or are never allotted.

Rounds and Round 1 free exit

• There are four rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and a Stray Vacancy round.
• Round 1 has a free exit: if you do not want your Round 1 allotted seat, you can exit without losing your security deposit and still take part in Round 2.
• The up-gradation option carries through Round 1 to Round 2 to Round 3. Admission becomes binding from Round 2 — if you join a Round 2 seat and then drop out, the security deposit is forfeited. There is no service bond.

MBBS seats

• Government colleges: 1,710 MBBS seats across 12 colleges (1,392 to state-quota counselling after the All India Quota and constitutional-nominee seats are set aside).
• Private colleges: 2,450 MBBS seats across 14 colleges, including management, minority and NRI seats.

BDS seats

• Government: Patna Dental College, 40 BDS seats.
• Private: 200 BDS seats across three colleges (Buddha Institute of Dental Sciences, Patna 100; Mithila Minority Dental College, Darbhanga 60; Sarjug Dental College, Laheriasarai 40).

• Register, pay the fee and security deposit, and fill and lock your choices on bceceboard.bihar.gov.in between 10 and 14 August.
• Keep your Bihar domicile, category and NEET UG 2026 documents ready; upload the correct DQ, NRI or minority certificate if you claim those.
• Read the prospectus in full before you apply.

The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) issued an advisory on 28 June 2026 spelling out the documents that disability (DQ), NRI and minority quota candidates need for the 2026 UG medical and dental counselling, UGMAC-2026.

For the disability quota, the advisory lists the centres allowed to issue disability certificates and the disabilities each can certify. National centres include VMMC and Safdarjang Hospital in Delhi, the All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Mumbai (locomotor disability only), IPGMER in Kolkata and Madras Medical College in Chennai. Inside Bihar, assessment is done at government colleges including PMCH and NMCH in Patna, IGIMS Patna, DMCH Darbhanga and JLNMCH Bhagalpur, each cleared for specific disability types; IGIMS Patna, for instance, covers visual, locomotor, hearing and speech disabilities.

The board says the full updated document list for the disability quota will appear in the UGMAC-2026 prospectus, and any rule change will be notified when the online application opens.

What this means for you: if you are applying under the disability, NRI or minority quota, get your certificates from the designated centres only, and keep them ready to upload the moment UGMAC-2026 registration opens. A certificate from a centre that is not on the board’s list can cost you the quota claim.
