The Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Educational Courses declared the first round of MBBS and BDS seat allotment for Gujarat on 27 August 2026. 7,459 candidates were allotted a seat. Reporting at a help centre opened at 10:00 am on 29 August and closes at 12:00 noon on 5 September.
The three deadlines, and they are not the same day
Online payment of tuition fee runs until 3:30 pm on 3 September. Cash or demand draft at a designated HDFC Bank branch is open from 10:30 am on 29 August, also until 3:30 pm on 3 September, and only during banking hours on working days. Reporting with original documents at your help centre runs from 10:00 am on 29 August to 12:00 noon on 5 September.
The fee window shuts two days before the reporting window. Paying on 3 September and reporting on 5 September is allowed. Reporting on 5 September without having paid by 3 September is not.
Help centres work Monday to Friday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. They are shut on Sundays and public holidays. You pick your help centre and your appointment date while printing the allotment letter, so print it early rather than on the last working morning.
Candidates on an NRI seat have a separate sequence. A refundable deposit of ₹5 lakh is due by 3:30 pm on 3 September, and the institute fee in US dollars or an equivalent currency is due at the allotted college by 12:00 noon on 5 September. Miss the second one and the admission stands cancelled. The ₹5 lakh comes back after the full admission process ends.
What was allotted
8,402 seats went into the round and 7,459 were taken, leaving 943 vacant. Of the seats allotted, 6,398 are MBBS and 1,061 are BDS.

Every management seat and every local-quota seat went. Government-quota seats are 35 short of full. The vacancy is almost entirely NRI: 908 of the 1,010 NRI seats found no taker, which is nine in every ten.
Those NRI seats do not stay empty. The official seat matrix says vacant NRI seats are filled as management quota seats at management quota fees, and it adds that the GMERS colleges and Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhuj hold no management seats of their own, so their unfilled NRI seats convert the same way. Expect a large part of those 908 back in the round 2 pool, priced as management seats.
Closing ranks at the government colleges
These are NEET All India Ranks, taken from the last candidate allotted in each category on a government-quota seat.

Below that tier, the open-category government-quota seat closed at 31,708 at GMERS Sola, 39,961 at GMERS Gandhinagar and 41,285 at GMERS Gotri. The last GMERS college to close was Godhra at 78,940. Among the municipal colleges, NHL Ahmedabad closed at 80,168 and SMIMER Surat at 1,05,468 on their state seats, and lower on their local quota, 68,865 and 93,755.
Private colleges on government-quota seats ran from 95,120 at GCS Ahmedabad to 2,07,840 at Swaminarayan Institute of Medical Sciences, which was the last open-category government-quota MBBS seat in the state.
On the dental side, Government Dental College Ahmedabad closed at 1,02,415 in the open category and Jamnagar at 1,29,491. The last BDS government-quota open seat went at 3,57,972.
Ranks moved a long way from last year
The median open-category government-quota MBBS allotment this round sits at rank 74,117. Last year in round 1 it was 55,952. The last such seat went at 2,07,840 against 1,47,276 a year ago.

Part of that is supply. Gujarat allotted 5,729 government-quota MBBS seats in round 1 this year against 5,155 last year, 574 more. ST is the one category that did not follow the pattern, with a median slightly ahead of last year.
The last-merit list is not a rank list
ACPUGMEC publishes a closing table called Last Merit Round-01, and it is the document most candidates open first. It is quoted in Gujarat merit numbers, not NEET ranks. It shows 116 as the open-category closing figure for B. J. Medical College. That is merit number 116. The NEET rank of the same candidate is 3,318.
If you compare your NEET rank against the last-merit table you will conclude you have a seat you do not have. The two allotment lists, merit-wise and institute-wise, carry a column headed AIQ Rank, and that is your NEET All India Rank. Use those.
Round 1 is the round you can walk away from
Gujarat’s four-round instructions set out something worth knowing before 5 September. After round 1, candidates in all three positions, not allotted, allotted and not reported, and allotted and reported, carry into round 2 on their existing registration, with a free exit and no forfeit of the security deposit.
Round 2 works differently. A candidate allotted in round 2 who then does not pay the fee and submit originals loses the refundable security deposit, and has to register again for round 3 with a fresh non-refundable PIN fee and a fresh deposit. Anyone who confirms a round 2 admission properly stays eligible for round 3. A candidate who upgrades in round 2 has no claim left on the round 1 seat they had confirmed.
So the cost of declining a round 1 seat is nothing. The cost of declining a round 2 seat is your deposit and a fresh registration. Round 3 is what used to be called the mop-up round.
Round 2 dates
State counselling round 2 runs from 7 September to 11 September. The last date of joining is 18 September, and state authorities verify joined-candidate data on 19 September. If you registered in round 1 and had your documents verified at a help centre, you do not register again for round 2. The All India Quota round 2 opens earlier, on 3 September, which matters if you are in both tracks. We covered that schedule separately.
What to do now
Log in to the ACPUGMEC portal, download the allotment letter and the fee challan, and book your help centre appointment while printing the letter. Pay the tuition fee online or at a designated HDFC branch, then collect two copies of the receipt and two copies of the challan from the portal.
Check two certificate dates before you travel, because they turn people away at the counter. For SEBC non-creamy-layer and for EWS, a certificate in Gujarati must be issued on or after 1 April 2024, and a certificate in English must be issued on or after 1 April 2026. Caste, EWS and domicile certificates must come from Gujarat authorities only. Candidates born outside Gujarat need a domicile certificate from a Mamlatdar, Executive Magistrate or Commissioner of Police in Gujarat. Carry an 11 x 15 inch envelope with your details written on it, as the committee asks.
Then decide, on the closing ranks above, whether the college you have is one you would keep if round 2 offers nothing better.
