The Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Education Courses has opened the first round of online choice filling for MBBS and BDS, and published the round 1 seat matrix for medical and dental courses.
The schedule
| Activity | From | To |
|---|---|---|
| Round 1 choice filling | 24.08.2026 | 27.08.2026, 1.00 pm |
| Display of choices filled by candidates | 27.08.2026, up to 4.00 pm | |
It is open to every candidate on the ACPUGMEC merit list, and covers government, management and NRI seats across government, grant-in-aid and self-financed colleges.
What the seat matrix shows
Gujarat’s MBBS intake for 2026-27 is 7,500 seats, split as:
| Quota | Seats |
|---|---|
| Government quota (state counselling) | 5,891 |
| NRI | 862 |
| Management | 430 |
| All India Quota (filled by MCC) | 317 |
Within the 5,891 government-quota seats the category split is 2,415 open, 1,591 SEBC, 884 ST, 589 EWS and 412 SC.
The matrix is published per college with an intake figure and the full quota and category breakdown, which is more detail than most states give at this stage. Two colleges appear as two rows each: Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College (182 + 68) and SMIMER Surat (180 + 70), because both carry a separate local-quota stream on top of their general intake. Each still totals 250.
One number worth checking before you rank
NRI seats at 862 are twice the management count of 430. If an NRI seat is part of your plan, Gujarat has an unusually large share of them, and they sit in the same choice-filling exercise rather than a separate process.
The committee also asks candidates to visit medadmgujarat.org frequently, since admission information is updated there.
Our Gujarat cutoff pages carry closing ranks by college, category and seat type, and the predictor shows which of those 7,500 seats your rank actually reaches before you commit to an order.
