The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board has issued a public notice about one specific college, and candidates filling BDS choices should read it before locking anything.
Seats at Awadh Dental College and Hospital, Jamshedpur are being included in the counselling process, following a judgment of the Jharkhand High Court. JCECEB is not presenting this as a clean restoration, and the notice is unusually direct about why.
What the court decided, and what it left open
The High Court, by its judgment dated 13 August 2026, set aside the earlier decision that had stopped and debarred admissions at the college. That is why the seats are back in the counselling pool.
But the court did not settle everything. It expressly left open the question of the legality and regularity of the admission of 68 BDS students, for determination by the National Dental Commission through an independent inquiry, after giving the college an opportunity of hearing.
So the college can take admissions again, while a regulator examines whether a previous batch of 68 admissions was valid.
What JCECEB is telling candidates
The board asks candidates to consider the regulatory and legal position, and its possible implications, before filling or locking a choice for this college. It advises them to satisfy themselves about the latest status of the college, including its recognition or permission for the relevant academic session, and to keep checking official communications from the competent regulatory authorities.
Then comes the sentence that matters most:
“Once a candidate exercises and locks a choice and is allotted a seat, the consequences applicable under the counselling rules shall follow.”
In plain terms, the counselling rules bind you once you are allotted. If you list this college and get it, you are subject to the usual consequences of holding that allotment, and the regulatory question does not become the board problem. JCECEB says it is issuing the advisory in the interest of transparency so that candidates are fully informed before choosing.
How to treat this
This is not a direction to avoid the college, and we are not making one either. It is a disclosure that the college carries an unresolved regulatory question that other colleges on your list do not.
The practical approach is ordering. A choice list is ranked, so a college you are uncertain about belongs below the ones you are not uncertain about, rather than being included or excluded outright. Check the recognition status for the current session yourself before you lock, and read the court order rather than a summary of it, including this one.
