Baba Farid University of Health Sciences has issued the second round schedule for MBBS and BDS admissions, and the first deadline lands almost immediately. Fresh application and registration runs from 3 September to 5 September 2026, up to 5:00 PM. Candidates who already registered do not need to register again.
Giving willingness to participate in the second round runs a little longer, from 3 September to 7 September 2026, up to 5:00 PM, and it is mandatory. Willingness is not a formality here: the university says only those candidates who submit willingness along with the required security amount will be considered for the second round.
One caveat on status. The university has issued this as a draft schedule, prepared for perusal and approval, and the document says so on its face. The registration window it sets out is already open on the BFUHS portal, so treat the dates as operative but check the portal before relying on a date further out in the calendar.
The Round 2 schedule
- Fresh application and registration: 3 to 5 September 2026, up to 5:00 PM
- Giving willingness for Round 2: 3 to 7 September 2026, up to 5:00 PM
- Tentative vacancy position on the university website: 7 September 2026
- NRI quota physical application form: 7 and 8 September 2026
- Sports category hard copies at the Admission Branch, Faridkot: only on 7 September 2026
- Minority quota verification at the minority institution: 7 September 2026
- Provisional merit list: 8 September 2026
- Objections to the merit list, in person at Faridkot: 9 September 2026, up to 3:00 PM
- Revised provisional merit list: 9 September 2026
- Online choice filling: 8 to 10 September 2026, up to 5:00 PM
- Processing of seat allotment: 11 to 12 September 2026
- Provisional seat allotment result: 12 September 2026
- Objections to the allotment result, in person at Faridkot: 14 September 2026, up to 4:00 PM
- Revised provisional allotment result: 15 September 2026
- Balance fee payment and reporting at the allotted college: 16 to 18 September 2026, up to 5:00 PM
Objections at both stages have to be made by turning up in person at the Admission Branch in Faridkot with the relevant documents. The university states that objections received by email will not be entertained.
Round 1 choices are wiped
Every candidate has to submit fresh choices for Round 2. The university has put it bluntly: choices submitted during Round 1 are treated as null and void. Choices lock automatically once the deadline passes, and no request to change them afterwards will be entertained.
That makes 10 September the real decision point of this round, not 5 September. Registration only buys you the right to be in it.
What it costs
Fresh applicants pay a registration fee of ₹5,000 plus 18 per cent GST of ₹900, and candidates in the SC and BC categories pay ₹2,500 plus GST of ₹450.
The security fee depends on where you are willing to be allotted. It is ₹10,000 for government colleges only, and ₹5,000 for SC and BC candidates on the same option. For private colleges and private universities it is ₹2,00,000, and it stays ₹2,00,000 for a combined government plus private option, with no category concession on either.
Candidates allotted a seat in Round 1 also have to submit willingness for Round 2, but their deposited security fee is adjusted and they pay only the remaining tuition amount. Anyone who has already paid tuition of more than ₹10,000 for government colleges, ₹5,000 for SC and BC candidates, or ₹2,00,000 for private universities and colleges, does not pay the security deposit again.
Who is eligible for Round 2
Five groups can be allotted a seat in the second round:
- Registered candidates who got no allotment in Round 1.
- Registered candidates whose Round 1 seat was cancelled during document verification at reporting. They are considered with a changed category, subject to seats being available in it.
- Candidates who reported at the allotted institute in Round 1 and submitted willingness for upgradation as Yes.
- Candidates allotted a seat in Round 1 who did not join.
- Candidates who resigned online, within the stipulated time, from a Round 1 seat at the college.
Two classes are shut out: candidates who became ineligible for want of adequate documents under the Punjab government and MCC eligibility criteria, and candidates who registered in neither Round 1 nor Round 2.
The forfeiture rules are strict, and they compound
The security deposit is refunded only if no seat is allotted in Round 2. Beyond that, every path costs money.
A candidate allotted a Round 2 seat who does not report or join may exit, but the security deposit is not refunded. A candidate who joins can still resign within the stipulated period, and the security deposit is forfeited then too. Either way, staying in the process for Round 3 means registering fresh and depositing a fresh security amount on top of the forfeited one.
Upgradation carries its own lock. A Round 2 seat can be upgraded in Round 3, but once you join the upgraded seat in Round 3 you cannot resign or leave it. And if you do not join an allotted or upgraded seat in Round 3, that security is forfeited as well.
One structural point matters for anyone counting on a late opening. The university says conversion of NRI and reserved category seats to open merit happens in Round 3, and only after the eligible candidates in the relevant category have been exhausted. Seats you are hoping will spill into the open pool will not do so in this round.
What to do now
- If you have not registered at all, do it before 5:00 PM on 5 September. There is no second window.
- If you are already registered, submit willingness with the security amount by 5:00 PM on 7 September. Skipping it keeps you out of the round entirely.
- Check the tentative vacancy position on 7 September before you build your preference list.
- Treat 10 September as the deadline that decides your seat, and submit fresh choices well before 5:00 PM.
- Sports and NRI candidates: the physical submissions on 7 and 8 September cannot be done by email or post.
