  • MCC’s final Round 1 list changes 33 NEET UG allotments, and every one belongs to a PwD candidate

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) published the final seat allotment for Round 1 of NEET UG 2026 counselling on 24 August. The document runs to 1,272 pages and lists 29,602 allotments, 25,635 of them MBBS and 3,967 BDS. Its own file properties record that it was generated at 9:24 am on 24 August.

MCC had already published this round twice: a provisional list on 20 August, then a revised provisional list on 21 August after it found an error in how PwD certificates had been uploaded. We compared the final list against that 21 August revision, row by row, matching candidates on their All India Rank.

    What changed

Very little moved, but what moved was concentrated in one place. Thirty-three candidates appear in both lists and were given a different allotment in the final one. Every single one of them holds a PwD category: 18 in Open PwD, 13 in OBC PwD and 2 in EWS PwD. All 33 are MBBS candidates. Not one BDS allotment changed, and no candidate outside the PwD pools was touched.

That distribution matches the reason MCC gave for reopening the result in the first place. A certificate upload problem in the PwD stream would be expected to change PwD allotments and leave everything else alone, and that is exactly what the two files show.

Alongside those 33, six candidates who had a seat in the provisional list do not appear in the final one, and seven who were absent now hold a seat. The list therefore grew by a single row.

    Who gained and who lost

The seven candidates added to the final list are better ranked than the six who dropped out. The additions sit between All India Rank 157,599 and 651,991; the removals run from 693,568 to 885,241. Read together, the two groups describe one event: candidates whose PwD certificates were accepted on review entered the merit list, and because they ranked higher, the six candidates at the very bottom of the PwD order were pushed out of Round 1.

Between those two ends, the correction travelled down the list one seat at a time. The candidate at rank 189,475 moved from Bangalore Medical College to Mysore Medical College. The candidate at 271,663, who had held that Mysore seat, moved to Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences. The Belagavi seat had belonged to rank 362,709, who moved to Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences, whose earlier holder at 416,535 moved on to Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences. Four candidates, one chain, each displacing the next.

Some candidates changed category as well as college. The candidate at 189,475 was allotted under OBC PwD in the provisional list and under Open PwD in the final one. Seven candidates saw a category change of this kind, and one saw a change of quota.

The affected candidates are spread from rank 189,475 to 993,428, with a median of 559,929. Almost every change sits deep in the rank order, which is where the PwD pools fill.

    What candidates should do

The final list supersedes both provisional lists. Any candidate who checked their result on 20 or 21 August should check it again, because the allotment they saw then is no longer the one that counts. This applies most directly to PwD candidates, but the safest course for everyone is to open the final list rather than rely on a screenshot from earlier in the week.

Candidates who have been allotted a seat must report to the allotted college within the reporting window for Round 1, which runs to 31 August under MCC’s revised schedule of 19 August. A candidate who does not report in time forfeits the seat.

The six candidates who lost a Round 1 seat remain in the process. Round 2 registration follows Round 1 reporting, and seats left vacant after reporting are added to the Round 2 matrix.

Our All India Quota cutoff pages carry closing ranks by college, category and quota, and the predictor shows what your rank reaches across AIQ and state counselling together. We covered the provisional result and the discrepancy window when it was published on 20 August.

How we compared the two lists

Both documents were downloaded from MCC’s website, stored, and checksummed on the day they were published, so neither has been overwritten by the other. We extracted every row from each file, matched candidates on All India Rank and course, and compared the allotted institute, course, category and quota for each match. The counts above are from that comparison. The 21 August file is 4,592,581 bytes and the 24 August file is 4,592,896 bytes, a difference of 315 bytes across 1,272 pages, which is consistent with a change of this size.

  • Chhattisgarh warns that a seat allotment is not an admission

The State Counselling Committee at the Directorate of Medical Education has issued a press note explaining how allotment, document verification and admission fit together in Chhattisgarh’s NEET UG 2026 state counselling.

    The central point

Being on the merit list, or even being allotted a seat at an institution, does not make your admission final. Under Rule 7 of the Chhattisgarh Medical, Dental and Physiotherapy Graduate Admission Rules 2025, the online counselling process covers registration, setting the order of preference, allotment, scrutiny of original documents, and admission. All five, not the first three.

The admission process is treated as complete only after the candidate produces the required original documents and is found eligible on scrutiny.

    What gets checked

During the eligibility examination the committee verifies the domicile certificate, the category or cadre certificate, and the other documents required under the rules. The note is direct about the consequence: incomplete documents, a missing required certificate, or incorrect information can leave a candidate ineligible for admission.

It also points to Rule 12, under which an admission obtained by giving false or incorrect information, or by concealing relevant facts, is open to action, as is an admission later found to have been obtained through an error or omission.

    Where the dates will appear

A separate timetable for document scrutiny and admission will be published on the Directorate’s website, cgdme.in. Candidates are told to watch for it and to appear at the concerned institution or admission centre at the prescribed time with all their original documents.

    On rumours

The committee asks candidates not to act on rumours, confusion or misleading information about the counselling. Queries and complaints should go through the “Candidates Grievances and Query Redressal System” available under Candidate Login on the official counselling portal, or by email to the counselling branch at cgdme.counseling@gmail.com.

That is worth taking literally. In a week when almost every state has revised its schedule, second-hand dates circulating on social media are more likely to be wrong than right.

  • Arunachal Pradesh adds seats and unlocks every candidate’s choices, re-lock by 25 August

The Directorate of Higher and Technical Education has confirmed additional MBBS and BDS seats for Arunachal Pradesh candidates and added them to the round 1 seat matrix. The seats were confirmed by the Government of India on 22 August 2026 and will be available for allotment in the first round itself.

    Read this part carefully

Because the matrix changed, all previously locked choices have been unlocked. If you locked your preferences and considered the job done, your list is no longer locked.

Candidates who want to update their preferences may modify and lock their choices until midnight on 25 August 2026 after logging into their individual accounts. The circular repeats the advice to lock your final choices and keep a printout for future reference.

Even if you do not want to change anything, you still need to log in and lock again. An unlocked list at the deadline is the most avoidable way to lose a round.

    The seats that were added

Course College Total Open (Cat I) APST (Cat II)
MBBS Lt. Sh. Lakhiram Agarwal Memorial Govt. Medical College, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh 2 0 2
    MBBS Pt. J. N. M. Medical College, Raipur, Chhattisgarh 2 1 1
BDS K.G. Dental College, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh 1 0 1
BDS Dr. R. Ahmed Dental College, Kolkata, West Bengal 2 1 1
BDS Government Dental College, Raipur, Chhattisgarh 1 0 1

Four MBBS and four BDS seats in total, distributed between the Open and APST categories as per the state’s reservation policy.

Why the colleges are in other states

Arunachal Pradesh has no medical or dental college of its own, so the state’s candidates compete for quota seats reserved for them in colleges elsewhere. That is why every seat on this list sits in Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh or West Bengal. It also means your allotted college will be outside the state, and the reporting and admission formalities happen there.

  • Tripura pushes NEET UG 2026 round 1 registration to 27 August

The Directorate of Medical Education has issued a revised round 1 schedule for Tripura undergraduate medical counselling, replacing the one published on 18 August. Every stage moves back by roughly a week.

    The revised schedule

    Event When (server time)
Registration, payment of registration fee and security deposit, and final submission after registration unlocking 18.08.2026 (3 pm) to 27.08.2026 (11 am)
Registration unlocking up to 27.08.2026 (9 am)
Remove discrepancy up to 27.08.2026 (11 am)
    Choice filling 27.08.2026 (2 pm) to 29.08.2026 (12 noon)
    Publication of merit list 29.08.2026
    Allotment result 31.08.2026
Nomination collected from the DME office by allotted candidates 01.09.2026 (12 noon) to 05.09.2026 (2 pm)
Physical verification of originals and admission at the allotted institution 01.09.2026 (2 pm) to 05.09.2026 (5 pm)
Last date of admission, round 1 05.09.2026 (5 pm)

The three sub-deadlines on 27 August run in sequence within a single morning: unlocking closes at 9 am, discrepancy correction at 11 am, and choice filling opens at 2 pm. If your form needs a correction, 27 August morning is the last chance, and it is a narrow one.

    The seat matrix is out

The round 1 seat matrix has been published alongside the schedule, covering MBBS, BDS, BHMS and BAMS. It sets out the state quota and domicile seats, and separately the MBBS seats for All India candidates other than Tripura domicile at Tripura Medical College and Tripura Santiniketan Medical College.

Note the collection step: the nomination has to be picked up in person from the DME office between 1 and 5 September before admission at the allotted institution, so plan for two visits rather than one.

  • Kerala extends NEET UG 2026 option registration to 24 August, adds PIMS Palakkad

The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations has rescheduled the first phase of Kerala state counselling for MBBS and BDS, in line with the revised MCC schedule.

    The revised schedule

    Date Event
15.08.2026 Website opened for registration to MBBS/BDS courses
24.08.2026, 11.00 am Closure of online option registration
    25.08.2026 First phase provisional allotment
    27.08.2026 First phase final allotment
28.08.2026 to 05.09.2026, 4.00 pm Allotted candidates remit the fee shown in the allotment memo and take admission
05.09.2026, 5.00 pm Colleges approve and send the list of admitted candidates through OAMS

Candidates who have not registered any options can register new ones, and those who already have can rearrange or delete them. The allotment is based on the options standing at 11 am on 24 August.

    Three additions in this notification

PIMS Palakkad joins this phase for MBBS. Palakkad Institute of Medical Sciences has been included in this phase of allotment. Its provisional annual fee is Rs. 8,98,800 for the general category and Rs. 21,65,720 for NRI.

15% All India Quota seats in self-financing dental colleges are open for option registration, irrespective of domicile. Allotment to those seats is subject to government approval, so treat them as provisional in a way the rest of the list is not.

Candidates whose results are withheld can still register options. Being withheld does not shut you out of the option window.

The change follows the MCC revising the All India Quota and state counselling schedule on 19 August 2026.

  • MCC releases NEET UG 2026 round 1 provisional result, discrepancies close 21 August

The Medical Counselling Committee has released the provisional result for round 1 of NEET UG 2026 All India Quota counselling. The allotment list runs to more than 1,200 pages and covers every AIQ, deemed, central university and special quota seat.

    The deadline is tight

Any discrepancy in the result must be brought to the MCC’s notice by 3.59 pm on 21 August 2026, through the “Candidates Grievances and Query Redressal System” on the candidate login portal. That is the only channel named in the notice.

Three things the notice is explicit about

The result is indicative and subject to change. MCC states plainly that candidates cannot claim any right over the seat shown in the provisional result.

It cannot be challenged in court. The notice says the provisional result “cannot be challenged before the Court of Law”. The grievance window is the remedy.

Do not go to the college yet. Candidates are advised to approach the allotted college or institute only after the final result is declared. Turning up on a provisional allotment is how people end up travelling for a seat that changes.

Why so many quotas appear in the list

The allotment covers a wide set of quota codes in one document, including the Aligarh Muslim University internal and self-finance quotas, Delhi University and IP University quotas, the Jamia internal quota, Muslim and Jain minority quotas, ESI, the foreign country quota, Puducherry UT internal, NRI, and the Delhi NCR children and widows of armed forces personnel category. If your quota abbreviation is unfamiliar, the first page of the list carries the full key.

This is the revision everything else is following

MCC revised the All India Quota and state counselling schedule on 19 August, and states have been re-issuing their round 1 dates ever since. If your state’s deadline moved this week, this is why.

  • Himachal Pradesh sets NEET UG 2026 round 1 dates, choice filling 22 to 25 August

Atal Medical and Research University has issued the revised round 1 counselling schedule for MBBS and BDS in Himachal Pradesh, following the revised schedule received from the MCC.

    The revised schedule

    # Activity Date
1 Final merit list of 1st round counselling 21.08.2026
2 Filling and locking the choices of course, college and quota 22.08.2026 to 25.08.2026
    3 1st round provisional seat allocation 27.08.2026
    4 1st round final seat allocation 29.08.2026
5 Date of joining the allotted college and course 01.09.2026 to 03.09.2026

    Two things to note

There are two allocations, not one. The provisional allocation on 27 August is not the final word; the final allocation follows on 29 August. Do not make travel or payment commitments on the provisional list alone.

Locking is inside the 22 to 25 August window. Filling and locking share the same four days, with no separate locking period afterwards.

The university notes that any change, or the schedule for subsequent rounds, will be uploaded to amruhp.ac.in, and advises candidates to check it regularly until admission is complete.

The change follows the Medical Counselling Committee revising the All India Quota and state counselling schedule on 19 August 2026. Most states are re-issuing their round 1 dates as a result.

  • Madhya Pradesh postpones NEET UG 2026 round 1 allotment

The Directorate of Medical Education has postponed the first round seat allotment for MP State Combined NEET UG counselling 2026-27, which was scheduled for 20 August 2026.

The notice gives the reason as the revision in the time schedule of All India and state counselling by the MCC. A revised schedule for the first round of state counselling will be published shortly, and candidates are advised to stay in touch with the DME website and the MPOnline portal.

What this means if you have already filled choices

Nothing is cancelled. The allotment is deferred, not scrapped, and no new date has been given yet. There is no action to take today beyond watching for the revised schedule, and no advantage in changing anything in anticipation of it.

What is worth doing is checking that your filled choices are locked and your documents are in order, because when a postponed allotment is rescheduled the gap between announcement and allotment is usually short.

The change follows the Medical Counselling Committee revising the All India Quota and state counselling schedule on 19 August 2026. Most states are re-issuing their round 1 dates as a result, so check your own state even if you are not applying here.

The NEET UG Medical and Dental Admission/Counselling Board has issued a revised round 1 schedule for Rajasthan, in line with the state schedule released by the MCC.

    The revised dates

    Activity Date
Last date for submitting Part 2 of the online application 21.08.2026, 8:00 pm
Revised provisional merit list, and revised list of PwBD/PwD, Defence/Para Military and NRI candidates for verification 22.08.2026

Revised provisional merit lists published after verification 24.08.2026, midnight
Deposition of security amount 14.08.2026 to 25.08.2026, till 6:00 pm

Candidates already verified need not attend again on 24 August.

The security deposit decides what you can fill

The amount is not a formality; it gates which seats you may choose during choice filling, for MBBS and BDS alike.

    • Rs. 50,000 for UR/EWS, SC/ST/ST-STA/OBC-NCL/MBC-NCL candidates opting for a government MBBS seat in government, government society, RUHS-CMS and ESIC colleges
    • Rs. 2,00,000 for a management MBBS seat in government society colleges and RUHS-CMS
    • Rs. 5,00,000 for an NRI MBBS seat in government, government society and RUHS-CMS colleges
    • Rs. 5,00,000 for MBBS in private medical colleges
    • Rs. 10,000 for BDS in the government dental college, RUHS-CDS and private dental colleges

Candidates depositing Rs. 2,00,000 or Rs. 5,00,000 are automatically eligible to fill the lower-deposit options as well. Deposit only the lowest amount and the higher-tier seats simply will not be available to you when the choice window opens, whatever your rank.

  • Odisha extends NEET UG 2026 round 1 choice filling to 22 August

The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination board has issued a second revision of the round 1 counselling schedule for MBBS and BDS state quota seats. Candidates who have not filled any choice are told to log in and complete choice filling in time.

    The revised schedule

    Activity Date
Choice filling for all state merit listed candidates 14.08.2026 8:30 pm to 22.08.2026, 5:00 pm
Choice locking activity starts 22.08.2026, 11:30 am
    Reconciliation of data 23.08.2026
    Round 1 provisional allotment 24.08.2026, 2:00 pm
Invitation for queries on the provisional allotment 25.08.2026, 2:00 pm
Publication of round 1 allotment and download of allotment letter 26.08.2026, 11:30 am
Provisional admission by paying fees and reporting at the OJEE Cell, Gandamunda 28.08.2026 to 06.09.2026

Two details worth noting. Choice locking opens at 11:30 am on 22 August while filling runs to 5 pm the same day, so the last few hours are for locking rather than reconsidering. And reporting is centralised at the OJEE Cell at Gandamunda with original documents and a signed bond, not at the allotted college. A college-wise reporting schedule will be notified separately.

All other activities stay as published in the original tentative schedule of 5 August 2026.
